Electrical Installation:
- The stove must be connected to the mains using a double pole isolating switch with at least 3 mm clearance between contacts in all poles.[1]

- A disconnection (terminal block) must be provided within the fixed wiring.[1]
- This appliance must be earthed to prevent electrical hazards.[1]

- For plug-in models (such as Defy DSS553), plug the power cord into a 230V, 16A earthed wall socket. Note that it may not be possible to use all heating components simultaneously on plug-in models.[3]
- Do not exceed a power cable length of 2 meters for hardwired installations, and route the cable to avoid contact with hot surfaces or being pinched.[4]
- Additional protection via a residual current circuit breaker is recommended.[4]
Physical Installation:
- Remove all packing materials and place the stove on a flat and level surface.[1]
- Engage the anti-tilt stability chain or bracket by anchoring it to the wall behind the stove to prevent accidental tipping.[2]
- If included, fit the splashback by aligning it with holes on the rear of the unit and securing it with the supplied screws.[2]
- Ensure the unit is installed so that foreign substances and liquids cannot penetrate under or behind the appliance.[4]
Additional Installation Steps (for Some Models):
- Open the terminal block cover, insert the power cable through the cable clamp, and secure it with the provided clamp.[4]
- Connect the wires according to the supplied wiring diagram.
- Close the terminal block cover after completing wiring.[4]
